The 2008 SNART Seminar on Swedish Higher
Education in Real-Time and Embedded Systems - CANCELLED
Due to too few registrations, we have unfortunately been forced to
cancel this event. Also, the annual meeting of SNART has been
postponed. We apologize for any inconveniences this might have caused.
The purpose of the seminar is to gather representatives from
industry and academia in order to discuss Swedish higher education in
real-time and embedded systems. The seminar will try to address, among
others, the following questions:
- What is the status of higher education in real-time and embedded
systems in Sweden today, considering the variety of programs at
different technical universities?
- How do various sectors of industry perceive the quality of young
engineers today, and what are the most urgent demands for the future?
- How can higher education be changed to be better aligned with the
needs of Swedish high-tech industry?
- Recruitment is a growing problem for engineering education in
general and for electrical and computer engineering in particular. How
is Swedish industry affected, and what can industry and academia do to
help the situation?
We have invited a number of speakers from industry and academia in order to ignite the discussion:
- Mats Brorsson, Professor in Computer Architecture at KTH
- Lars-Olof Gustafsson/Viktor Skogman, Manager for General Operations at
Ericsson Network Platforms
- Karl-Erik Ĺrzén, Professor in Automatic Control at Lund University
- Ted Kruse, Head of Mechatronics & Software, Volvo Technology
- Zebo Peng, Professor in Computer Systems at Linköping University
- Gregory Singh, Senior Vice President at Enea Nordic Services
- Johan Karlsson, Professor in Reliable and Robust Real-Time Systems at
Chalmers
- Pierre Öberg, Managing Director of Research and Development at Westermo
- Ivica Crnkovic, Professor in Software Engineering at Mälardalen University
During the meeting, there will also be opportunities for group
